The Department of Political Science, Bethany Christian College, organised a seminar on 15 September 2026 at 10:30 AM in the B.Ed. Smart Room, 1st Floor. The programme was conducted by the student compere, Hoihmalsawm, 1st Semester.

The programme began with the welcome address delivered by Asst. Prof. Elizabeth Lhungdim, HoD, Department of Political Science. She warmly welcomed the resource person, faculty members, and students and highlighted the importance of academic discussions on contemporary political and social issues. This was followed by a special number presented by Lhingneiching and Lamneilhing, 1st Semester. Their presentation added a meaningful and engaging element to the programme.

The main session of the seminar was the presentation by Asst. Prof. Dr. David Buhril on the topic, “Politics of Population Census: Exploring the Case of Tribals in Manipur.” The presentation focused on the significance of population census and its relationship with political representation, identity, demographic concerns, and the situation of tribal communities in Manipur. The session provided students with an opportunity to engage with an important issue from a political and social perspective.

This was followed by special number presented by Jamgunhao Touthang, 1st semester. T. Boniface Haokip also presented on the topic “Political Ideology,” contributing further to the academic seminar. Following the presentations, Asst. Prof. Seikholal Haokip, Coordinator, IQAC, delivered a speech. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks, delivered by Limsongin, 1st Semester.

Overall, the seminar was an informative and academically enriching programme organised by the Department of Political Science, Bethany Christian College.
