DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY
The Department of Zoology, Bethany Christian College, organized a Departmental Seminar 2026 on 22 September 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at the BCC Smart Room. The seminar was organized as an academic platform to enhance students’ knowledge, encourage scientific discussion, and provide exposure to effective academic presentation.
The programme was compered by Ms. Vungzoukim, 3rd Semester. The programme commenced with the welcome address delivered by Asst. Prof. Nitin Lalnunpui, Head of the Department of Zoology, who welcomed the faculty members and students and highlighted the importance of departmental seminars in promoting academic learning and scientific communication.
The first presentation was delivered by Asst. Prof. Rolienpui on the topic “Life Cycle and Pathogenicity of Plasmodium vivax.” The presentation provided an overview of the life cycle of the parasite and its role in causing malaria, helping students understand the biological and pathological aspects of the disease.
This was followed by a student presentation by Ms. Lalnuntheng, 5th Semester, on “Flight Mechanism and Adaptation in Flying Birds.” The presentation discussed the structural and functional adaptations that enable birds to fly, including the role of wings, feathers, body structure, and other adaptations associated with flight.
Following the presentations, Asst. Prof. Seikholal Haokip, IQAC Coordinator, delivered a speech. The address emphasized the importance of academic activities, student participation, and continuous learning in strengthening the quality of higher education.
Certificate Presentation
After the completion of the seminar programme, certificates were presented to the participants/presenters by the Vice Principal of Bethany Christian College in recognition of their participation and contribution to the departmental seminar. The certificate presentation served as an appreciation of the students’ and participants’ efforts and encouraged them to take part in similar academic activities in the future.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Thonggunkai, 5th Semester, who expressed gratitude to the Vice Principal, IQAC Coordinator, Head of the Department, faculty members, presenters, students, and everyone who contributed to the successful organization of the seminar.
Mr. Thangkhan Khual Singson, 5th Semester served as the rapporteur and documented the proceedings of the programme.
Overall, the Departmental Seminar 2026 was an informative and academically enriching programme. It provided valuable opportunities for students and faculty members to share knowledge, develop presentation skills, and engage with important topics in Zoology. The successful completion of the seminar reflected the Department of Zoology’s continued commitment to promoting academic excellence and active student participation.
