IQAC SUMMARY

            In the year 2020 the Department of Higher Education, Government of Manipur directed all non- NAAC credited colleges of Manipur must work vigorously for NAAC accreditation and asked to submit their targeted dateline.

In compliance with the department’s direction the college put a target to submit IIQA on January 2022 for the assessment period of 2017-2022.

The IQAC of Bethany Christian College was instituted, as per guidelines of University Grant Commission (UGC), India and requirement of National Assessment and Accreditation Council, India on 1st October 2021 with the adoption in the Staff Meeting. The first coordinator was Dr. L. Khobung. He headed the College IQAC for a span of seven months. During this period IIQA/AQAR/SSR was not submitted though some preparations were made. 

Accordingly, the College set up a new IQAC called as reformed IQAC and Mr. Seikholal Haokip, Assistant Professor of Political Science was appointed as Coordinator on 1st July, 2022. Under the new IQAC the Principal is the Chairman. To assist in technical matter one teacher is appointed as IT Nodal Officer and other eight teachers as members of IQAC.

Since their appointment the IQAC under the headship of the new coordinator work with full dedication for SSR preparation. The new IQAC works under the guidance of mentor group set up by the expert team from one college. At every interval of 15 days IQAC coordinator of the college make presentation on the work of SSR preparation at the office of Principal Chamber. The new IQAC introduced many qualitative changes in the college specially with regards to Seminar/Workshops/Talk Series and teaching-learning aspects. SSR and AQAR documentation and preparation was put vigorously to meet its targeted dateline.

For the first time, the basic profile and academic information of the IIQA was first submitted on the 1st of December, 2022 but was not completed due to the preparation and documentation of the SSR. In the year 2023, Due to the ethnic conflict and tension arise in the state, educational institutional were suspended for several months and NAAC Assessment in the college was disbanded during this time.

Again, for the Second time, IIQA was submitted on 1st February, 2024. NAAC Bengaluru response with some clarifications. The response for clarifications was late due to the delay of updating and rectifying the college website within the stipulated time. Therefore, the second attempt of IIQA submission was targeted in the first week of May, 2024.

The College signed MOU with Kumbi College on 12th December, 2022 for promotion and enhancement of academic interest between the two institutes.

Bethany Christian College Celebrates International Women’s Day 2026 with Call for Gender Justice

Bethany Christian College observed International Women’s Day on March 8, 2026, under the thought-provoking theme “Give to Gain”. Organized by the college’s Women’s Cell, the event brought together faculty and students to reflect on the global journey toward gender equality.

Event Highlights:

  • A Legal Perspective: The keynote session was delivered by Ms. Nemkholam Lhungdim, Chief Judicial Magistrate of Churachandpur. She provided a deep dive into the United Nations’ recognition of women’s rights and the persistent challenges of gender inequality in modern society.
  • Bridging the Gap: The Speaker highlighted critical issues, including property rights under customary laws and the need for more effective implementation of the POCSO Act.
  • Call to Action: Students were encouraged to move beyond awareness of their rights to understanding their duties. Ms. Lhungdim also extended a special invitation for students to visit the court to observe judicial proceedings firsthand.
  • Student Voices: Chonglemnieng (6th Semester, Political Science) delivered an inspiring speech on the transformative power of education and confidence for women.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Asst. Prof. Seikholal, IQAC Coordinator, and a closing prayer by Vice Principal Dr. L. Khobung.
