ENGLISH DEPARTMENT SEMINAR 2026

The English Department of Bethany Christian College, in collaboration with IQAC,
successfully organized a Departmental Seminar on 18th September 2026 at the BCC
Smartroom, 1st Floor. The programme brought together the faculty members and
students of the department with the aim of promoting academic engagement,
knowledge-sharing, and meaningful interaction beyond the regular classroom setting.
The programme commenced with the hosting by Mr. Amos Ginminlun ,3rd semester
and Miss Nemneikim of the 1st Semester. Miss Elizabeth of the 5th Semester
delivered the Welcome Speech, extending a warm welcome to the Principal, Vice
Principal, IQAC representatives, faculty members, presenters, and students.
The seminar featured two presentations. Asst. Prof. Lhaichingthem Haokip
presented “The Eras of English Literature: From Old English to Contemporary
Literature,” offering an overview of the development and major periods of English
literature.
Miss Kimboichong of the 5th Semester presented “Breaking the Mold:
Women, Society and the Struggle for Independence,” focusing on the representation
of women, social expectations, and the struggle for independence.The academic sessions were complemented by special numbers presented by Miss
Daicy Ngaipichong (3rd Semester) and Miss Nengneiching(1st Semester), adding a
lively and engaging element to the programme.
The seminar also included addresses by the Principal, BCC; Vice Principal, BCC; and
IQAC, BCC, who encouraged the department and students in their academic pursuits
and activities.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Asst. Prof.
Nemlalbiek Gangte, HoD, English Department. She expressed gratitude to the college
authorities, IQAC, presenters, students, and everyone who contributed to the
successful conduct of the seminar. Miss Veineichoi of the 3rd Semester served as
the rapporteur.
Overall, the seminar provided an enriching academic platform for students and
faculty to engage with literature and contemporary social themes. It also
strengthened the spirit of participation, cooperation, and collective responsibility
within the English Department. The enthusiastic involvement of both staff and
students contributed significantly to making the programme meaningful and
successful.
