HAPPY TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATION, 2026 || DEPARTMENT OF TEACHERS’ EDUCATION
It was with full gusto and enthuse that the Department of Teachers’ Education, Bethany Christian College, prepared for the Teachers’ Day, 2026. Initiatives came from the 9th Batch First Semester Student – Trainees to hold the Teachers’ Day – 2026 in a full pomp and show. Responding to such vigour, the teaching faculty under the leadership of Sir P. Augustine Lushai, the Head of Department, B.Ed. gave the necessary guidelines for the Day. The 8th Batch Third Semester B.Ed. Trainees had given their love and care for their Teachers in a beautiful miniature way inside their classroom on 4th August, 2026.
Preparations for Teachers’ Day began well ahead in advanced from 31st August, 2026 onwards. To this effect, financial contributions from the B.Ed. trainees were collected. This work was entrusted to the B.Ed. Class Monitors which saw to its fulfillment. Programme for the Day was framed by the Class Monitors and later, scrutinized and confirmed for printing by the HoD. On inspection, this year’s Teachers’ Day celebration programme had varieties of programmes with singing, dancing, speeches from the College Authority, Teaching Staffs and Student – Teachers. It was a well – thought Programme. The D – Day’s Programme is given on the next leaf.
Since the Student – Teachers wished that both Uncle Principal, Dr. B. Kam Za Mung and Aunty Hathoi Buansing, Founder Secretary, BCC, be present for the D- Day, the celebration was postponed from 5/09/26 (Saturday) to 7/09/2026 (Monday). This gave ample time to the Student – Teachers for preparation. The dress code for the day was traditional attire.
On Monday (7/09/2026), the air was filled with excitement and expectations……. With all the Student – Teachers running helter – skelter to give final touches to all items, with each portfolios ready for the Celebration of Teachers’ Day. The Escort Team of four accosted the B.Ed. Teachers toward the Auditorium for the Celebration. With rounds of applause and cheering, the teachers were greeted with heartfelt wishes, handshakes and badges of honour. This year uniquely the teachers were made to put in their signatures on a whiteboard to show love, respect and gratitude to all. Amidst thunderous clappings and cheers, the Escort Team ushered the solemn entry of Principal, Dr. B. Kam Za Mung and his wife, Aunty Hathoi Buansing, Founder Secretary, Bethany Christian College.
As per the Programme, the Teachers’ Day Celebration for the year 2026 began with the compere – William Ngamminlal Baite and Esther Nengngaiching Singson – taking it over.
Firstly, the entire congregation stood and sang the BETHANY ANTHEM and was followed Bible Reading from the 9th Batch B.Ed. trainee – Lydia Niangngaihkim. The Principal led the Opening Prayer for the gathered Congregation. This was soon followed by Welcome Address by Chongvakzem, first Sem. B.Ed. trainee. An impromptu melody was giv’n by Samuel Mimin.
The beautiful Cake cutting by both Uncle Principal and Aunty Hathoi Buansing and all the B.Ed. staffs along with other dignitaries on the stage behind, sent loving memories of yore to present gleaming faces. A succinct, concised history of Bethany Christian College and the Department of Teachers’ Education was marvelously delivered by Aunty Hathoi Buansing, Founder Secretary, BCC.
The star of the programme was delivered by Alex with his melodious voice, accompanied by his colleagues. Amidst applauses, Sir P. Augustine Lushai, the Head of Department, B.Ed., gave thankful note for the trainees’ show of love and care, and respect for all the teaching staff. He highlighted the important place a teacher holds in the universe and challenged the B.Ed. trainees to be a Maker and Moulder of Better Human Beings. This was followed by dances from the B.Ed. teaching staff. O! it was a hilarious dance…full of laughter and glee….
The B.Ed. trainees had their time in showing the highest form of respect they had for their teachers by giving them gifts and presents to all the College Authority members, B.Ed. Teaching Faculties and dignitaries. This was soon followed by a beautiful traditional circle dance with tribal Christmas song by all the teachers and trainees, and dignitaries alike. A Joyous Moment!
